Baby Girl Becker's Room

So we have officially finished the last room in the house..(I'm DONE!)
Baby _______Becker's room..haha

Mom and Grandma Gina came down to help of course..mom painted and sewed curtains while grandma did laundry and pressed the new curtains. It took 8 lbs off of me that's for sure. So obviously putting the nursery together includes putting a crib together..fun..Nana & Papa Becker bought us our crib off craigslist and when we went to pick it up the father of the girl who never slept in her crib said I will take it down and put the screws back in it so you know right were they go...So the day comes when its our turn to put it together and Brian says we are missing some big screws. Like the main screws that attached A to B..I said he told you he put them all back in their right place so we could just put it back together. Then I remembered there were the 4 big ones that he handed me that didnt have a place when the crib was in pieces..So I told Brian to go check the closet by the front door since the crib had sat there from the time we bought tell about a month ago. And I also told him to check the junk drawer(drawer under microwave with important can't loose items go).Nope. So now Brian was on a mad hunt to find these screws. Keeping in mind that Brian's version of looking for something is a quick glance in that direction and if it's not flashing and saying here I am then he wont see it. I get up and walk into the kitchen only to find them right in the drawer under the microwave where all the important pieces are for something or other in our house are located.

This process should have been much easier..It wasn't hard after we did trial and error a few times but we got it.

Me making sure everything was going correctly.. I'm cut a break on manual labor cause I'm prego...
Lucy thanking Grandma Jackie for helping her mommy and daddy get her new baby sister's crib together.
Mom holding the crib in place while Brian searches for those important screws...

All the dogs must be a part of the process or it wouldn't be complete. Brian is holding his eye in this picture cause I accidently dropped a key from a wall hanging into his eye. Which I didn't even know there was a key on it. haha Sadie was there to help as always she LOVES Brian.

Peanut thought he needed one of these lovely cages where it's too high for the other dogs to reach you.
Brian didn't think that the baby bjourn would fit him..So we did a test run.
It fits! He has my stuffed easter bunny in there from when I was about 3 years old.
Mom, Grandma, and I trying to figure out why the bows on the bumper aren't matching up with the posts on the crib...
Tada..Now just to hang the curtains and finishing touches on wall decor and we're done!

South Dakota Baby Shower

July 23, 2011

After our eventful week with mom and grandma gina coming to stay to help paint the nursery and sew up some girly curtains we headed to SD for baby shower #1. My aunt Lisa was the host and she is a great host. She really does have the greatest ideas. She thinks of the cutest things and she has done it so many times for weddings and such that she has a million ideas. The weather that day driving back to SD was nasty it was actually strong winds and rain..go figure everytime Brian and I head back to SD it's terrible weather, but we made it. My shower wasn't until 7pm and by then it was actaully perfect out. The rain had stopped and the sun was still hiding which was just fine for me! :) It was actually cool enough that I wore a jacket..humid in Rochester not in Watertown made for a great shower.

Diaper cake my cousin Holly made..so clever how she did it btw..
Some of Lisa's clever ideas...really old second hand store table clothes of all sorts and the bouquets she made with scrapbooking paper and old broaches, and also mason jars filled with rice and a candle then tied fabric around the top that matches the fabric on top of our drink jars.

Since the shower was at 7pm she served dessert! YUMMY! There was a meat and cheese tray, veggie cups with cheddar veggie dip, chocolate cupcake with homemade frosting, key lime & strawberry cheesecake cups with almonds crushed on top, and a delish spread that we put on chocolate goldfish..not totally sure but I know it had something to do with raspberries and white zinfandale wine also with almonds in it.Drinks were raspberry lemonade, cucumber/lime water, coffee, or wine..No wine for me but I sure did down the other 2..

Our adorable drink jars! Such a cute idea! I love the shabby chic!

We played one game, which was to guess my waist line...Sad to say that my aunt Laurie won and she measured around her own waist for her guess.. And I believe Ashley was the furthest off since she guessed pretty much the whole roll..Thanks!

Ashley was in charge of the camera and this was the only photo that I had that I was not caught talking or making a weird face in...

A Quick Update

So I'll start with Friday July 15th, which as I'm concerned should have been Friday July 13th. I had my monthly Dr. appointment where I also had the Glucose testing done. Let me just say that stuff they make you drink isn't terrible but it is SOLID sugar! It tasted like a flat sprite that I left in my car with the lid off, for 3 months. I did gag a few times. Then they make you sit in the waiting room for an hour with terrible magazines and nothing else to do..boo. But we finished that only to head to my next appt. which was a shot of something that starts with an R for my A- blood type, which burned going in and the nurse said I wouldn't feel a thing. I'm pretty sure she lit the needle on fire before sticking it in my side then. Well Brian and I got outta there about 5:30 and ran over in the torential down pour to Jimmy Johns for supper (only cause I asked my Dr. and he said deli meat is just fine while your prego). Then off to get some groceries for the weekend ahead. We pulled into the Hyvee parking lot and would you believe Impalas actaully second as a boat? Cause the water was hood deep and my car was bubbling!haha! But we made it. We only had about 30mins before our company (mom, dad, and grandma Gina, Peanut, Jingles and Hank) arrived for the weekend. We got home and ran down to the basement to get our pups from their kennels so they could go potty outside. I was making my way down the stairs and just as I was on the last stair I noticed a wierd smell only to then step on the basement floor itself (carpeted) and a splash of water went up my legs "Brian?"...Yep..water in our newly completely finished basement. Thank goodness it did not make it to the Guest bedroom we'd just finished. I was surprisingly calm about the whole thing oh well what else could go wrong? Mom, Dad, Grandma and the dogs arrive..we get everything unloaded and situated and head off to get them some dinner. My mom decided she would like Wendy's and I couldn't complain cause what's one more chocolate frosty it had only been my 4th maybe 5th for that week.haha. As we finish up eating I notice these 3 ppl walking in the door trying to be quite until I hear the very distinctive giggle of my cousin Tyler. Brian had invited the whole family down for the weekend and managed for me to not find out, even after knowing that we had now where for them all to sleep now that our basement had water in it. We made it work though.
Saturday July 16th. Sat. rolls around and we headed off to Wabasha to visit the Eagle Center since my dad loves eagles. It was a fun couple hours, it was really hot but it was fun and then we headed back to Roch. We just sat out on the deck talked and hung out for awhile only to have Brian come out later with the annoucement that our air has stopped working. "Lovely." Brian and dad figured out that it was just a simple $35 part that we could put in and have it back to normal in no time. There's a catch it's Sat. and they don't sell that part at a local store. So we call Tonna... They had the part and sent out a tech to put it in with there lovely 24 hour service cause it was after all now 10pm. He put in the new part and with in a matter of minutes it gets really hot and starting sizzling. To make a really long story short, that was the correct part but that part was not the main problem..we needed a new AC she was dead and the earliest they can put a new one in is maybe Monday. So now I'm thinking do I call K & S and chew them out for not fixing this before when are air was over working? Nope..just breath. Everythings going to be all right..Thinking in my head that seriously nothing else can go wrong now with water in the basement and no air, we had just replaced the furnace so everything was good to go. Brian did call the AC guys on Monday morning and buy mentioning his crazy weekend of a houseful, a pregnant wife, an elderly woman visiting, and the fact that he has blisters on his face from the heat they were kind enough to bump us to the front of the line for instulation of a new AC.
Sunday July 17th. Everyones up with rosy cheeks and hair matted to their necks and faces from sweating all night. I run down stairs to finish some laundry I was doing and dad was sitting on the floor in our storage room with a flashlight.
"dad what are you doing?"
"nothing"
"why are you on the floor looking at the water heater with a flashlight"
"because your hot waters not working"
............................................................"oh" I say calm as a cucumber. Cause really what else could go wrong?
Well not worries the pilot light just went out probably a result of the 800 fans blowing in every direction upstairs and down. Dad, Ashley, Erica, Tyler and Mr. Jingles (dad right hand dog) headed back to SD for some long awaited sleep and cold AC I'm sure.
I'm done with the phrase what else could go wrong cause things seem to just keep on a goin wrong. But to wrap up this really long post, that was seriously the last thing to go wrong. Everything is now seeming to be going just fine. It will all be better when I can catch up on my -42 hours of sleep.
